We all know that mosquitoes love to bite humans. But, have you every wondered why we are so tasty to them? Using methods in neurobiology, physiology, genetics, and behavior, Dr. Lisa Baik and her lab are working to better understand mosquito behavior and develop strategies to control them and reduce disease transmission. As Dr. Baik prepared to open her new lab at UC Davis, she needed a standout website and logo to engage prospective students and clearly communicate her research projects.
Mosquitoes are often portrayed as gross or frightening, but as Dr. Baik explained, they are both beautiful and deadly. Inspired by the editorial designs of the Squarestylist, I created website that balances professionalism with curiosity, creating a visual identity for the Baik Lab that reflects the strength and elegance of the species that they study.

Design Goals
The goal of this project was to create a visual identity that conveyed the Baik Lab as both professional and approachable. The branding needed to set the lab apart from others in the field, attracting prospective students and postdocs, while establishing credibility within the broader scientific community.
